One woman in four will experience domestic abuse at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner.

Refuge supports thousands of women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic & sexual abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Working as a health visitor, and for 6 years as the allocated health visitor for a domestic abuse refuge, I have supported many, many women and children who have experienced domestic abuse. I have seen first hand the vital support offered by domestic abuse organisations and refuge.

Refuges save lives but also provide the opportunity space and support for lives to be rebuilt.
