Story
We will be attempting to run the length of the Thames Path during Mental Health Awareness week, Sunday 12th May - Saturday 18th May 2024. We will be running the 298km route across 7 consecutive days, that’s an average of over a marathon a day! The route will start at the source in Kemble, Gloucestershire and finish at Woolwich in London. We are taking on this challenge to raise awareness and money for the charity Mind. By sponsoring us, you’ll be supporting the fight for mental health.
In June 2020, we sadly lost our Dad to suicide. Our Dad was a happy and outgoing person who loved life, but sadly he was suffering in silence. We want to raise awareness of the support available for people who are struggling with their mental health and encourage people to talk about their mental wellbeing.
What do Mind do?
• “Even though 1 in 4 people have mental health problems, most of us don’t get the help we need. This has to change. We’re Mind. We’re here to fight for mental health. For support, for respect, for you.
• We change minds across England and Wales by making mental health an everyday priority. By standing up to the injustices – in healthcare, in work, in law – which make life harder for those of us with mental health problems.
• We support minds – by offering help whenever you might need it through our information, advice and local services.
• And we connect minds. Bringing together an unstoppable network of individuals and communities – people who care about mental health to make a difference.”
How your fundraising helps:
• £20 could run our online peer support community for an hour, helping people connect with others and feel less alone.
• £50 could help us campaign for better mental health services from the Government, ensuring people get the support they need, as soon as they need it.
• £100 could pay the cost of one of our Infoline or Legal Line advisors for a whole day. Thanks to your amazing support, we can maintain our advisors, ready to answer calls for support and help."
Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help Mind to continue the incredible work they do supporting people struggling with their mental health.
We would also love to encourage people to help raise awareness of mental health and eliminate the stigma of talking about mental health with friends and family.
Thank you!
