So there may be one too many Cooks taking part in this marathon but here the three of us are going to give it a try. One has done it before (Cookie), one would like to chase down his brother (Laurence) and the other quite frankly wants to get round (Sarah).

Cookie of course knew Ruth and we have all met Andrew at various points throughout the years. In fact it was after last years marathon that Andrew put the idea in Laurence and (mainly) Sarah's head. This charity therefore has a personal connection for us all. Sarah has also made use of the the information the Ruth Strauss Foundation provides at work (she is an intensive care consultant) when she's had to break bad news to families and people have asked "but how do we tell the children?".

For those who don't know RSF’s mission is to ensure families where a parent is living with an incurable cancer are offered professional emotional support, as well as raising awareness of the urgent need for more research into non-smoking lung cancers.
