Fundraising for Abby’s Heroes

We have chosen to support Abby’s Heroes after the care and the support they have delivered to our Head of Design, Dan Jarnak, and his family. Dan’s 2-year-old daughter, Evie, was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis NF1 in November 2022, a genetic condition that causes affects the nervous system in the body. Although Evie’s tumours are benign, they are currently impacting her eyesight and so she requires weekly chemotherapy to stunt the growth of the tumours to try to preserve her eyesight. Dan and his wife, Rachel, were blown away by the support that Abby’s Heroes offered to their family right from Evie’s first hospital visit to having her portacath line fitted and each chemotherapy appointment since.

How will our fundraising support Abby’s Heroes?

TSL is fundraising to support Abby’s Heroes, a charity that supports the patients and families of the Piam Brown and Teenage and Young Adult units in Southampton General Hospital. Their support helps to reduce the physical and emotional stress on patients and the financial and emotional impact on their families. The team provides play therapists, counselling services, and run weekly Pizza and Ice cream nights, provides snack boxes for when children are admitted in an emergency, and End of Treatment Awards for children.
