Story

As you know…Last year i took part in the 100km Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge Walk with my Mother but we were defeated at 58KM due to poor  weather conditions.

What I didn’t tell you, is that during training in the build up to the challenge I was going through several months of unexplainable pain.

Just 2 days before the challenge I was referred to Warwick Hospital and was given a precautionary biopsy to carry out further investigations.

Finally.. .. after 10 visits (Yes 10 visits)  back and forth to my local GP my symptoms were being taken seriously…!!

Fast forward  5 weeks after taking part in the challenge i was diagnosed with Stage 3c2 Cervical  Cancer, with the Cancer measuring 7 centimetres long.

I was told there was just 30 to 40% chance of curing the Cancer and the possibility of losing my hair was highly likely.

I’m pleased to say, after going through treatment (although I’m not yet in the clear as I wait for the  scan results) my hair survived which unfortunately isn’t the case for many others… 😞

Treatment was intense,  6 weeks of cold cap Chemotherapy, followed by 5 weeks of Chemotherapy without the cold cap,  then 25 sessions of daily radiotherapy followed by 3 sessions of brachytherapy during a weeks long stay in hospital..

So yes. I’m back and this time it’s personal..!!

This year along with additional family members we’ve decided we’re going back to finish what we started “No matter the weather” and take on the Ultra Challenge 2025…

For this walk we’re raising money for McMillan Cancer Support and we’re kindly asking for your help with donations.

Last year we had a target to raise £1,150 and we are grateful for all of those helped us achieve it. This year we have an increased target of £2,000 and we hope this is achievable with all of your help.. ❤️

As well as raising money for McMillan Support I would like to raise awareness. Although our local GPs do a fantastic job they are not always right..

What I was told to believe was a simple urine infection turned out to be something much much worse. So if you’ve been putting off your smear test, experiencing a pain that doesn’t feel right then make that call and book that appointment because I promise you a routine check is no where near as scary, uncomfortable or invasive as the treatment needed to fight cancer.

Bring on the ultra challenge 2025…🚶🏻‍♀️
