Story

This site has been set up in loving memory of Paul Hickson, a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and dear friend to so many people.

Tour de Paul (www.tourdepaul.co.uk)is a charity bike ride in aid of the Tîm Achub A Chwilio De Eryri, South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team (SSSART), of which Paul was a key member.

Riding through the key locations of his life from London to Bala, we hope to honour his work and raise awareness and money to support the vital work of the SSSART.

The SSSART operates in the South of Snowdonia National Park in North West Wales and the team provide vital support to North Wales Police in the event of a mountain emergency and are called upon to help locate missing or vulnerable people in lowland and built-up areas.

Paul was an integral part of the SSSART, serving as Deputy Leader until he sadly passed away in July 2023 after a brief illness. His passing is an enormous loss to the SSSART and we will cherish the memories we have of him and forever keep him in our hearts.

Paul touched many lives and a few more people are walking around today thanks, in part, to his involvement with the SSSART. A dynamic and friendly presence, Paul was instrumental in the development of training new recruits, overseeing the team’s equipment and kit, and representing the team at national meetings and beyond.
