We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

Hi, my name is Tracey, I am a mum of 2 children from Swindon. In 2019 our world changed forever when Alex, our son, took his own life, he was just 19 years old. He was full of life and had many great friends.

Suicide was a subject never spoken about within our family and friends. I decided there and then I needed to turn this horrendous loss into a positive. I found CALM on the internet and decided to register for the 'Lost Hours Walk' which takes place on the turning of the clocks, giving us a chance to remember our loved ones.

Our first walk which we registered for was in 2021 with 6 friends, in 2024 it is growing to now over 70 friends and strangers who will meet, walk and talk on Saturday 26th October, walking around Swindon completing 16 miles. Each year I am still surprised by what a difference we are making to many people still wanting to talk, raise money and awareness.

The CALM Charity have been amazing and all donations from this year will really make a difference and help keep their vital support helplines open. Each call costs £12.20 to be answered by a professional, trained, paid member of staff, and being used by a person in need/distress every 57 seconds.

Too many loved ones are being lost and believe there is no way out. Please help us reach our target, every penny can make a difference and together we are stronger and can help people believe there is a tomorrow and hope for the future.

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We’ve got loads of tools and resources to help people find the support they need, including a life-saving helpline for people who can’t see a way forward, have lost someone to suicide, or are worried about their friends or loved ones.

£12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
