Story
Twelve years ago, we rescued a leggy, goofy, funny and incredibly clever puppy called Jett. We were told he was a saluki cross, but years later a DNA test revealed he’s actually a greyhound x saluki - which explains his long legs, speed and cheeky personality perfectly!
Over those 12 years, Jett has transformed our lives in ways I could never fully put into words. He’s been by my side through some of the hardest moments of my life, including losing my dad. Through grief, stress and difficult days, he’s been a constant source of comfort, love and laughter. He truly is a beautiful soul, and our whole family absolutely adores him - the feeling is definitely mutual!
Despite still being a “young” 12-year-old, Jett has recently started facing some health challenges, and we’re doing everything we can to keep him happy and enjoying life. It’s made me reflect even more on how much rescue dogs give to us. We may have rescued Jett, but the truth is - he rescued me too.
The impact Jett has had on my life is exactly why I’m so passionate about helping other sighthounds - greyhounds, salukis, lurchers and other pointy noses - get the second chance they deserve. Every dog deserves safety, love and a family of their own.
So together, Jett and I are taking on this challenge to raise money and awareness for hounds still waiting for their chance. For 30 years, Forever Hounds Trust has been giving sighthounds a second chance - transforming frightened, abandoned and unwanted dogs into cherished companions through patient, loving care.
