Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
During my recent visit to Mityana with the Mityana Projects Trust, I spent a day with the beautiful children, their mothers and the staff at Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre. This incredible facility provides essential and scarce medical, emotional and spiritual support for disabled children and their mothers; most abandoned and shamed by family because of their child’s disability. The warmth, understanding and love radiating within the centre is indescribable and empowers a visible strength and sense of determination to survive in all those that stay there.
For very personal reasons, my visit to this centre was one of the most poignant and important days of the trip. Listening to the children’s and mothers’ stories and hearing of the wonderful ways in which they are helped and loved each day then being treated to a joyous celebration of song and dance was just incredible.
The centre is in dire need for suitable latrines - one block for the boys and one for the girls, both with aids in order for as much accessibility as possible. Some funding has already been sought but there is still quite a long way to go to reach the amount needed to build the latrines which will provide a good level of sanitation, essential to the everyday life of all those that stay at the clinic.
Any money kindly donated to this page, no matter how small, will be added to the ‘pot’ and I can guarantee be accepted with the utmost of humble gratitude and love from all at Namutamba ❤️.
