My beautiful grandson Cohan was just 10 months old when he was diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) — a congenital heart defect where there is a hole in the septum separating the chambers of the heart, which can affect the flow of blood to the lungs.

We have now been told that Cohan will need open-heart surgery. We haven't been given a date yet, but as he gets bigger, stronger and more boisterous, his mum and dad, Lewis and Hollie, find themselves wanting to wrap him in cotton wool and protect him from everything.

But Cohan is just a little boy who wants to do what little boys do — explore, play and discover the world around him. ❤️

As a family, this has been incredibly difficult to process, but we are trying to turn something heartbreaking into something positive.

The British Heart Foundation continues to fund life-saving research and provide support to families affected by heart and circulatory conditions every single day. As a family, we would love to give something back and help support the incredible work they do before Cohan goes ahead with his surgery.

So, on Sunday 13th September, I will be taking on the Edinburgh Kiltwalk — and hopefully surviving it! 😂

I’ll be walking 21 MILES for my gorgeous grandson Cohan and raising money for the British Heart Foundation. ❤️
