Story
10‑Year Challenge for Children in Care
This year, the Promoting Stability Team in DCC’s Fostering Service is celebrating 10 years together supporting children, young people, carers, and families across Devon.
To mark this milestone, we’re taking on a huge challenge throughout March - together we will cover 810 miles – the distance from Devon to the Scottish Highlands.
We chose that amount as 810 children are currently in care in Devon (as of 1 February )
That is one mile for every child, to honour them, recognise their journeys, and raise vital funds to support vulnerable young people locally.

Our Passion
As a team, we are deeply passionate about supporting their carers to provide safe, stable and trauma informed homes for the children they look after . Every mile represents our commitment to the children and families we support every day.
Who We’re Supporting
We have chosen to fundraise for Home for Good, who will ring fence all money raised to support their work in Devon.
Home for Good’s mission:
“We are committed to ensuring that every child who needs one finds a loving home. We achieve this by coordinating and resourcing a rapidly growing network of individuals, churches, and local movements across the UK. Together, we raise awareness of the needs of children and young people in care, inspire individuals to explore fostering, adoption, and supported lodgings, and equip churches to offer understanding and support.”
