Why I’m Jumping for Maternal Mental Health
Becoming a mother is often described as the most beautiful chapter in a woman’s life — but for many, it's also the most isolating, overwhelming, and emotionally complex.
As a practitioner in a perinatal mental health team, I see first-hand the struggles so many parents face. I’ve listened to stories filled with fear, self-doubt, and heartbreak — but also with hope, healing, and resilience.
When I became a parent, I expected sleepless nights and nappy changes — but I wasn’t prepared for the tidal wave of emotions, the anxiety, or the silent question in my mind: “Am I the only one feeling like this?”
One in five women experience perinatal mental health problems during pregnancy or in the first year after birth. And yet, so many suffer in silence — due to shame, lack of understanding, or not knowing where to turn.
That’s why I’m doing something completely out of my comfort zone:
I’m jumping out of a plane.
Yes — I’m doing a parachute jump to raise vital funds for the Maternal Mental Health Alliance, a charity that works tirelessly to ensure every mother gets the support she needs and deserves. They fight for better services, break down stigma, and give a voice to those who feel voiceless.
This cause is important to me — professionally and personally.
So please, if you can, donate. Whether it’s the cost of a coffee or something more, every penny will help support mothers through one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. Your donation can help a mum feel seen, supported, and strong enough to ask for help.
Let’s break the silence. Let’s stand with mothers and lift each other up.
And if I can jump from 10,000 feet for this cause — maybe you can take a small leap too.
Thank you so much for your support. 💜
