We provide monitoring equipment and alarms to help keep young people living epilepsy safe and regain independence. We support and improve the mental health of bereaved siblings and close friends by funding counselling and other therapies. We work with organisations to promote awareness of SUDEP.

Story

Jon Shaw Foundation was set up in memory of Jon, who died aged 19 from SUDEP (SUDDEN UNEXPECTED DEATH IN EPILEPSY) in June 2019. Jon was a former pupil at the school where I worked, alongside his mum, Wendy. He had the biggest smile which was so infectious and would always say hello, long after he had left school,

The charity aims to -

1. Support young people with epilepsy by providing grants for equipment such as alarms, monitors and other safety aids not normally available through NHS.

2. Provide services and activities to improve the mental health of bereaved siblings and close

friends including social events and face to face or group bereavement counselling.

3. Promote awareness of risks in epilepsy including SUDEP.
