On 13th September, I’m taking on the Thames Bridges Trek to help save UNACC

UNACC is a small local charity in Croydon doing incredible work to reduce loneliness for older people – and it’s now under threat of closure. My mother-in-law, Shirley has attended for years, and it’s been nothing short of a lifeline. Living alone for many years, and after losing both her sons, first Adrian and then my husband, Steve, she faced deep isolation.

At UNACC, she has found friendship, laughter, and a reason to get out of the house – whether it’s sharing a healthy lunch, chatting over tea, or fiercely competing (and sometimes winning!) in the weekly quizzes.

These spaces are vital in our increasingly disconnected world. Please help me keep this wonderful place alive so it can continue supporting her and so many others who depend on it.
