#TeamHRUK are raising funds by running the London Marathon 2027 to support Heart Research UK in their work funding pioneering research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart diseases.

Story

In 2027, I will be taking on the London Marathon in support of Heart Research UK.

Heart disease has had a huge impact on my family. My dad suffered two heart attacks in 2014 and has since gone on to have another a couple of years ago. He lives with unstable angina, which often presents with heart attack-like symptoms and can result in frequent ambulance callouts. As a family, we live with the constant worry of not knowing when the next episode will happen, or how much his heart can take, as well as watching someone you love in so much pain and being absolutely helpless.

I will be forever grateful that Dad broke the pattern and has survived his heart attacks, but the condition has taken a toll on his wellbeing, and the ongoing fear of "what if" has affected his day-to-day life and family moments.

Sadly, just one week after my dad's first heart attack, my grandad died from a heart attack, bringing home how devastating heart disease can be for families.

Because of my family history, I am now on preventative medication myself, and it has made me increasingly aware of the importance of heart health and early awareness.

I am running to raise funds for Heart Research UK in the hope that through research and greater awareness around prevention, fewer families will have to go through the same heartbreak and uncertainty we have experienced.

This will be my first ever marathon, and the fact it is the London Marathon makes it even more special and has made me even more determined to take on the challenge.

❤️ Memory Miles

As part of my marathon journey, I've started Memory Miles.

I'm filling my London Marathon running top with the names of people who have been affected by heart disease. Every name represents a person, a family and a story.

For £5, you can add the name of someone you know who has been affected by heart disease, whether they're living with it, have sadly passed away, or their life has been changed by it.

When the marathon gets hard (and it will), I want to look down at those names and be reminded of how lucky I am to be in the position to run this marathon. I also hope the finished top will be a visible reminder of just how many people are affected by heart disease.

If you'd like to add a name, simply donate £5 using the button on this page and write the name you'd like me to include in the donation note.

The names will become part of my marathon journey, and I'll carry them with me around London in 2027. ❤️

Every donation, whatever the amount, will help support Heart Research UK's work. Thank you so much for being part of my journey..
