Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running The Edinburgh Marathon on 26th May 2024 and have chosen to support Fitmums & Friends' Together in Grief - The Forest Project for two reasons:

I would firstly like to support a charity which is very special to me and has supported me in many ways since I joined them as a member of Harrogate Fitmums and Friends in 2018. Through Fitmums and Friends, I have developed as a runner, a leader and also a coach. I am forever grateful.

Secondly, being bereaved of some very special people as a child myself, I would like to support others going through something similar. I am in awe of the project and the benefits and support it gives to children and young people.

Together in Grief – The Forest Project is a free, group programme run by Fitmums & Friends which supports children and young people who have experienced the death of a loved one. Outdoor forest activities and bereavement support help them explore, understand and express their grief. To date, more than 60 children have taken part.

Here is some further information about the project: https://fitmums.org.uk/support/together-in-grief-the-forest-project

I will be thinking of this cause as I run the 26.2 miles of The Edinburgh Marathon, a feat which I never thought would be possible.
