Story
In June this year, our brave little grandson Gabriel (age 6) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It’s been a huge adjustment, but thanks to the incredible care and support from the Paula Carr Diabetes Trust, he’s adapting with courage and a smile. 💙
To give back to this wonderful charity, I’m taking on a Sponsored Walk on Sunday 12th October, starting at the Light Railway in Hythe.
Every donation, big or small, will help the Trust continue their life-changing work for children and families living with diabetes.
👉 Please support us if you can — your kindness means the world to Gabriel and our family.
Together, let’s walk towards a brighter future for children with Type 1 Diabetes.

WHY GABRIEL????
Type 1 diabetes isn’t just “a bit of sugar” or something caused by eating the wrong foods. It’s a serious, lifelong autoimmune condition that can happen to anyone—even very young children.
With type 1, the immune system destroys the cells in the pancreas that make insulin, which means the body can’t regulate blood sugar. Without insulin, life simply isn’t possible. Managing it takes constant attention—day and night. Blood sugars can drop dangerously low or climb too high within hours, and there are no breaks, ever.
Unlike type 2 diabetes, type 1 isn’t linked to diet or lifestyle. It can’t be prevented, and nothing could have been done to stop it. Children and families living with type 1 face a relentless daily challenge, balancing insulin, food, activity, and health risks every single day.
That’s why I’m raising awareness and funds—to support vital research, improve treatments, and move us closer to the day when type 1 diabetes can be cured. Every donation helps bring hope to families like ours, and means the world. 💙
