RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

I run a local weather station and live webcam from my home in Trearddur Bay, which I make freely available to everyone via:

https://trearddurbay.org

The aim is simple: to give residents, sailors, visitors and holidaymakers a real-time view of conditions on the bay to help them enjoy the area safely and plan their activities.

I fund, maintain and operate both the weather station and the webcam entirely at my own expense, and I don’t charge anything for access. Like much coastal equipment, the camera takes a real battering from the elements. I’ve recently had to replace it for the fourth time due to the harsh conditions.

The site is clearly well used and valued by the community. In just the first six months of this year, over 18,000 people have accessed it.

Given how many people rely on the bay and benefit from being able to see conditions in real time, I felt it was important to give something back to the people who are there when things don’t go to plan.

That’s why I’m raising funds for the RNLI in Trearddur Bay - volunteers who launch into difficult and sometimes dangerous conditions to help complete strangers, often at a moment’s notice.

Please Help

If you’ve ever checked the webcam before heading out…

If you’ve looked at the conditions to keep yourself or your family safe…

Or if you simply enjoy seeing the bay at its best…

Please take a moment to support the people who are there when lives genuinely depend on it.

One day, it could be you, a friend, or a member of your family who needs their help.

Even the smallest donation makes a difference:

- 10p from each user would reach the full £1,000 target

- £1 or £2 helps fund vital equipment

- Every pound supports volunteers who are ready to risk everything for others

Please donate now and help support those who are always ready to answer the call.

Thank you for taking a moment to give something back.
