Our beautiful friend & work colleague Sarah has recently been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at just 27 years old. News that no healthy young woman would ever expect to receive.
The type of cancer which presents more commonly in younger women, is more difficult to treat as it does not respond to hormone treatments. Sarah is therefore so bravely going through 16 rounds of chemotherapy and will also require surgery. As I am writing this, she has currently completed 3 rounds and absolutely smashing each one, a total warrior.
Being the selfless person she is, Sarah is already actively raising awareness of the disease while going through her own treatment alongside juggling family life being an amazing Mam to her young twins, Nina & Jude.
We are all so immensely proud of the sheer resilience, determination and positivity she has shown in what we can only imagine being the most overwhelming and scary time for her.
Sarah’s diagnosis has came as a great shock to us all, and we as a team want to give her our upmost support throughout this challenging chapter.
That is why, 9 staff members from the ‘North East Technical Team’ (her workplace team) have decided to help in her mission to raise awareness of this disease and showing our middle finger to Cancer, like Sarah, by embarking on a 26 mile hike around Kielder Water on Saturday 6th July 2024.
We have chosen one of the UK’s leading dedicated Breast Cancer research and support charities ‘Breast Cancer Now’ for all donations.
