Story
The Treehouse Children’s Unit is located within Stepping Hill Hospital, part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The Treehouse cares for children and young people around the Stockport area, aged 0-16, with a range of illnesses.
Having somewhere for parents and carers to take a break, have space to make phone calls, or just simply have a hot drink is vital for their own well-being whilst within the hospital setting. Seeing your child unwell, and in hospital, is a stressful and overwhelming time, and we must ensure our parents and carers find time to look after themselves too.
Working with families, we have designed the new parents room, with their own needs put first. This includes a rest and restore space, a kitchen area and table and chair area to sit and eat their own meals. As well as a microwave, kettle and culinary equipment e.g. cutlery, plates, mugs.
When a child is unwell in hospital, we must care for the entire family, not just the patient - therefore, it is my mission to help fund this room and meet our families needs.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. And a huge thank you to the Rotary and Stockport County Football Club
