Story
At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
When I first met my wife Jacque - trained as a radiographer, gained a HND in Business Studies, working as an accountant - in 1994, nobody could have foreseen that just 25 years later at the age of just 56 she would be diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's Disease. To see this terrible disease, during the course of the last few months of 2023 and the first of 2024, strip her of her dignity and humanity has been unbearable. Nobody deserves to suffer like that, least of all someone so gentle and generous to others as Jacque has always been. I am walking to do my own little bit towards that day when nobody will have to face that again.
