As many of you may know, my grandma who was beautiful inside and out, sadly passed away a few months ago. She, along with her sisters and thousands of others in the U.K., suffered with dementia and watching her lose her memories and herself was undoubtedly the toughest thing I have encountered in my life so far.

Complications of dementia is one of the biggest causes of death in elderly people in the U.K. and most people can say they’ve known someone or personally had to watch someone go through it.

For this reason and in memory of grandma, I have signed up to trek a marathon in a day around the lakes with my friend Yasmin!

The funds raised from this event will be invaluable to many families across the U.K. in giving them support and resources to help cope with Alzheimer’s.
