In the summer of 2023, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with T4 N1 M0 (stage 4) cancer affecting my throat, tongue and a nearby lymph node.

The months that followed were some of the toughest I have ever faced. I underwent an intensive course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and I was incredibly fortunate to be under the care of the amazing Dr Mehmet Sen. His expertise, dedication and support played a huge part in getting me through treatment, and I will always be grateful that he helped me survive.

Dr Sen has since retired from the NHS, but his commitment to helping others continues. He now dedicates much of his time as a trustee of Oracle Head & Neck Cancer Charity, raising awareness, supporting patients and families, and helping to improve understanding, treatments and outcomes for those affected by head and neck cancer.

That is why I feel it is now my time to “Step Up for Oracle.”

Throughout August 2026, I will be walking 10 kilometres every day with the aim of raising £10,000 to support Oracle’s vital work. It will be a personal challenge, but one that feels incredibly meaningful after everything I have been through.

I won’t be doing it alone. Each day, colleagues from Tremark, along with friends and family, will be joining me on the walks — sharing the miles, the conversations and the commitment to helping raise awareness and funds for this important cause. Their support means a great deal to me and will make the challenge even more special.

I know first-hand how important specialist care, support and awareness are. Charities like Oracle make a real difference to people facing a diagnosis that can be frightening, isolating and life-changing.
