London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

British Home is a Royal Charter registered charity providing care, therapy and rehabilitation for people living with neuro-disability. Donations and legacies to British Home means that we can invest in the latest technology and deliver innovative, high-quality personalised services.

Story

I met Sue for the first time on the 27th of December 1992 at Heathrow Airport waiting for a flight to Marrakesh. We had both signed up on a trekking holiday and like the other people on the tour, we were looking out for other people who had decided to spend their New Year in this way.

The trip was not a relaxing holiday - it was not meant to be - and once back home, many of the group stayed in contact with each other. I have been to California and Newfoundland as a result of contacts made in Morocco.

Sue lived more locally in Brighton then London and we strayed in touch over the years. Sue eventually became a good friend of my partner Din and myself.

Sue tragically suffered a neurological injury in 2019 following an operation and has needed full time care since that time. Despite her injury, she is still the person she was and the care she receives at British Home in London enables her to live her life as fully as she can.

British Home is a specialist facility for living with neurological injuries. It is the kind of place that no one wants to go to, but all of us would be grateful it is there if we needed it. The fragility of life means that any of us could need it at anytime.

I run marathons for fun, but sometimes the cause is more important. London 2026 is for British Home.
