Story
Nearly 4 years ago now in 2022 many of us lost a very close friend Trey, to mental health. In March 2023 I ran a half marathon for him and raised £960 + £139 in gift aid. This money went to Gully's Place, the amazing charity who looked after Treys family and Trey after he passed creating a peaceful environment for him to be in. This money meant that gullys will be able to keep helping families in need.
However, for Treys 19th birthday this year I wanted to do something special to celebrate. Ive chosen to do the 3 Peaks in 24 Hours challenge starting on the 13th of May going into the 14th, his birthday, with 3 of my amazing friends. This challenge will by far be the hardest thing I have done, it will involve a 6am start in Scotland climbing Ben Nevis, this should take around 4 hours and then we'll start a 6 hour drive to Scafell Pike. We'll plan to start Scafell at 5pm and finish at 9pm before finally completing a 5 hour drive down to Snowdon where we'll start at 2am and finish at 6am.
Im choosing to fundraise for Two Little Birds - The Riley and Trey Foundation. This charity was set up by Riley and Treys incredible parents! Unfortunately, Riley also lost his life to mental health just a few months before Trey. Although I didn't personally know Riley, Ive heard countless stories from people of how absolutely lovely he was.
The Two Little Birds Foundation was formed to support the young people of Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester with their mental health. They work with mental health care organisations to create content for posters & social media posts detailing the signs of those struggling with mental health, the statistics of those struggling and signposting help and resources. Any additional funds are used to help provide for young people struggling with mental health to attend local therapy sessions and activities. Not a single day goes by where I don't think about Trey and his hilarious/crazy personality that so many people loved him for.
Your donation, no matter how big or small, helps to break the silence and give hope to those struggling.
