In April 2026, our world changed forever when our son, Leo, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. What followed was one of the most frightening and uncertain times our family has ever faced. In May, Leo underwent major surgery at St George’s Hospital. We are incredibly grateful that the neurosurgeons were able to remove most of it, although a small section remains. Thankfully, it is a low-grade tumour, and Leo continues to be closely monitored.

Throughout everything, Leo has been nothing short of remarkable. Faced with challenges that no child should ever have to endure, he has shown incredible bravery, strength and resilience. While our family struggled with fear and uncertainty, Leo continued to face each day with a smile, a positive attitude, and a determination that inspired everyone around him. His courage throughout hospital stays & appointments, tests, surgery and recovery has been extraordinary, and he has reminded us of all of the importance of hope, positivity and never giving up.

As a family, we have witnessed first-hand the impact a brain tumour diagnosis has, not only on the person, but on the people who love them. The support we have received, and the work carried out by organisations such as The Brain Tumour Charity have shown us how important research, awareness and family support services truly are.

In March 2027, Leo's Mum, Auntie and Sister will be taking on a walk through London to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity. We are walking in honour of Leo and the incredible courage he has shown on his journey so far. We want to raise awareness of brain tumours and help fund the vital research that could lead to earlier diagnoses, better treatments and improved outcomes for families facing similar challenges.

We are so proud of Leo and everything he has overcome. His bravery has inspired us to turn a difficult chapter in our lives into something positive.
