Story

The Tugboats & Dolphins, this year have taken on some extraordinary events as part of this fundraising campaign for DHR. The events so far have seen a marathon hike over the Yorkshire Dales and a huge cycle from Roscoff to Santander. What’s next? We have a 30mile hike through the Peak District in September and our finale will be our charity fight night October 25th at Boringdon Gold Club Park.

We have 24 complete novices signed up for the fight night whereby they’ll receive 10 weeks of training then fight in the ring for the first time at the event. As part of this event we will be doing our classic goldmine award which is presented to the individual who raises the most money for our chosen charity. If you are donating on behalf of an individual training in this fight camp, please mention their name in the comments when you do, for example ‘Good luck Johnno’ or ‘donation for Sharon’ this is so we can tally up how much each competitor has raised and present the gold mine award to the winner!

TB&D are taking on these epic challenges to raise enough money to renovate and develop the outdated sensory room at the DHR venue.

Dame Hannahs is a very special local charity which Tugboats & Dolphins are proud to support. For those of you who are not aware of Dame Hannahs, they provide care and support for adults with profound disabilities and complex medical needs at their Ivybridge site which includes residential and day placements.

After visiting the site and getting to know some of the residents and their needs this felt like a fitting challenge to upgrade their much-needed Sensory Room. This room is used to aid their ongoing therapy sessions as well as a space where they can go for fun and enjoyment.
