Story
A Mile in Their Shoes – a fundraising challenge that shines a light on homelessness and housing insecurity in Salford.
Did you know people facing street homeless can walk an average of 10 to 15 miles each day, looking for a safe place to sleep, wash and something to eat?
Emmaus Salford is more than just a home from homelessness – we provide affordable furniture, clothing and household goods in our charity shops, a school uniform hub for local families in need and a social supermarket, Lucie’s Pantry, to help people access food and essentials, a weekly warm space and community barbering.
So lots of staff Salford Business School are taking part (those not are supporting us) in a fundraising to walk or run one mile every day in February – 28 miles in total – and every step we take will help Emmaus Salford continue to provide a safe home, support, training and work opportunities for people rebuilding their lives after homelessness.
