Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

Hi! We're Abby and Sarah, and in September 2024, we will be embarking on a challenge like we've never faced before- climbing the 3 highest peaks in the UK in 3 days, all in aid of Brain Tumour Research.

We're taking on this challenge in aid of Jamie: Sarah's husband and Abby's Uncle. Jamie was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, the most common and most aggressive form of brain cancer, in March of 2022. Jamie underwent surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy in an attempt to slow the growth of the cancer, but sadly he died in December 2022.

He was a beloved husband, uncle and friend: a talented musician and producer, a formidable bananagrams opponent, and is missed every day by all who knew him. Jamie had always loved the outdoors and had intended, before he became ill, to spend more time in nature. He particularly had an expressed an interest in climbing the 3 peaks. We made a promise to him that even if he would not be able to climb those mountains in person, he would be with us in spirit when we climbed them in his memory.

We hope that whether you knew Jamie or not, you will consider donating to this incredibly vital cause so that one day, a Glioblastoma diagnosis will no longer be a death sentence.

Some words from our chosen charity, Brain Tumour Research:

'Brain tumours kill more more people under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable!

Brain Tumour Research is the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.'
