Story

Lifelong friends Matt and Rob from Cambridge are taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge over three days to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

They’ll be climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England, and Wales - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) - with a fundraising goal of £500.

Why We’re Doing This

Rob’s Story

"Where do I even begin? Last year, every moment felt like I was one heartbeat away from disaster. In 2023, my nan passed away after a fall, and while trying to process my grief, 2024 hit even harder. My Uncle David and one of my best friends, Dave ‘Destiny’ Christian, both received terminal cancer diagnoses. My uncle passed in April, and Dave followed in September."

"Dave wasn’t just a friend - he was family. He had a way of making people feel seen and valued. Even when he knew his time was short, he was the one reassuring us. My uncle was the same. Despite everything, he faced his fate with dignity, love, and courage - cherishing every moment with his family and grandchildren. I had the privilege of giving him a Manchester United shirt after my nan’s funeral, not knowing that he would later be buried in it.

"I’ve been to many sombre funerals, but theirs were celebrations of life - sunshine, laughter, and music that reflected who they were. My uncle left the world to Dr. Dre’s ‘The Next Episode’, and Dave, the ultimate Christmas fan, had an entire room of mourners in festive jumpers sharing stories at his favourite pub.

"All of them would call us silly for doing this challenge - they’d laugh and say it’s too late for them now. But I am lucky. I get to do this. And doing it with my best friend, to honour their memories, feels pretty special. So please, click that 'Give Now' button and help us make a difference."

Matt’s Story

"This challenge will push me to my limits, mentally and physically. But my determination to support this cause is stronger than ever. I’m doing this in memory of my Grandad Sid - the heart and soul of our family. Losing him to cancer left a void that words can’t describe.

"Grandad Sid was a true legend - he even made a flat cap look stylish! He had so many passions, and the memories I have with him are ones I will always treasure. Taking on this challenge in his honour feels like the right way to give back and help others affected by this terrible disease.

"Any donation, big or small, will help fund life-saving cancer research. We’d be incredibly grateful for your support. Thank you!"

💜 Every step we take is for those we’ve lost and those still fighting.
