I'm running Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2025 to support Cardiff University's cancer research, as well as neuroscience and mental health research. I'm supporting the next generation of researchers, to help accelerate life-changing discoveries to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for people living with a wide range of conditions.

Cancer researchers at Cardiff University are improving outcomes for people living with some of the most common cancers such as breast, prostate and bowel, as well as those that are rarer or hard to treat. Cancer has affected my family, like so many others, and these causes are important to me.

As a writer and teacher, to help raise money I'm also holding a 'literary fundraiser' through which those who donate £15 or more receive a free book, from a choice of my novels: Fireball, The Drive, No Good Brother, or Your Still Beating Heart. In the lead-up to the event, I'll be donating to the cause as well: as a means of motivating myself, for every 50 kilometres of training I do I'll donate £5. My aim is to run 50k a week in July, August, and September for a total of £65. We'll see!
