UCOMM's beneficiaries are mainly of BME origin, primarily but not exclusively persons of Ugandan descent, and their families now living in Greater Manchester. We aim to promote their general well-being, enable them integrate and participate in the British way of life, relieve financial hardship, promote good health, advance education, and provide facilities for recreation in the interest of social welfare. UCOMM furthers its purposes for the public benefit through; community and social engagement projects, crisis funding for families and individuals, women and youth events, The Great Tackle project, and more.

Story

I am part of the dedicated team behind UCOMM's inspiring project, "The Great Tackle." Every Sunday, we host a five-a-side football session where Black African families come together to play, bond, and break down barriers. These sessions are more than just football; they are about building lifelong relationships and creating a supportive community.

Our sessions are entirely volunteer-run. Volunteers handle everything from booking the venue to coordinating the games and supporting all participants. This effort promotes physical health and fosters a welcoming social space for families who might otherwise feel isolated. However, to keep this vital program running smoothly, we need your help.

We are fundraising to cover the costs of hiring pitches and providing light refreshments for everyone involved. Your support will make a real difference in sustaining this valuable community initiative. We are proud to be participating in the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run 10K on 31 May 2026 to raise funds for UCOMM.

Please join us in making a positive impact by donating towards our target of £2,500. Every contribution counts in helping us continue this important work that strengthens families and builds community spirit.
