Story

Blackdown Education Partnership is launching their Big Exercise Promise this half term. Every member of our Trust community; students, staff, parents/carers/ governors and other family members can join in. The plan is that as schools and families we walk, run, cycle or otherwise form one common goal: exercise and raise money for charity.

Uffculme School and Uffculme Primary are teaming up together to raise money for North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (NDSART). This is a local charity close to our hearts. As a school we highly value the outdoor pursuits and events such as Ten Tors, Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expeditions, Three Moors Challenges and many other enrichment opportunities for students. We are able to run these activities with confidence, knowing NDSART are there 24/7 365 to assist us if ever needed.

Although coordinated by the emergency services, NDSART are 100% dependent on donations from the general public - amazing people like yourselves - as they have no external funding from the government. It costs in excess of £30,000 per year to keep the team fully operational. It is not just North Dartmoor though, but a large area stretching from Bude to Exeter. There are currently 40 volunteers in the team which include a current member of Uffculme staff and two past pupils.

So please join us in having fun and exercising and donate as and when you can to this charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
