Today alone, 7 young people in the UK aged 13-24 have heard the life altering words “you have cancer”. Whether cancer is diagnosed during school, the beginnings of a career, or when starting a family, young people suddenly find their lives crashing around them, facing a terrifying world of uncertainty.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the number one youth charity in the UK and the only charity dedicated to providing the specialised nursing care and support young people with cancer need. It is our vision that we live in a world where cancer doesn’t stop young people living their lives. Through our 28 world-leading hospital units, specialist nurses, and emotional support programmes, we are there every step of the way for 90% of young people with cancer.

It is estimated that by 2030, 10 young people will be diagnosed with cancer every day. More than ever, we need your support to make sure we always have enough nurses and youth support teams to reach all the young people who need them. Young people like yourself, your son or daughter, your brother or sister, or your friend. If any of those young people found themselves needing cancer treatment and couldn’t access a Teenage Cancer Trust unit, they would find themselves in a health care system that doesn’t understand their needs, while being disconnected from the people and experiences that make them ‘them’. It could leave them feeling lost, alone and fearful for their future. Without us, young people do not have access to adequate care and support during and after cancer treatment.
