Ultra-Parker 100

100 mile run in a weekend · 11 January 2025
The Parker 100 is a yearly event at Repton School where all pupils are invited to challenge themselves by running 100 miles in the coldest and wettest term of the year, the Lent term.
The Parker 100 was established at Repton in memory of a Repton Role Model Chris Parker. When Chris joined Repton in 1969, he brought a sense of optimism and fairness that is still fondly remembered today.
Chris developed an aggressive cancer and died in April 1985. A few days before his death, Repton's Head of Sport at the time, Noel Bennett, gathered the whole school outside his house at the start of Steeplechase so that they could say goodbye to a much-loved teacher. Their colleague Graham Parry came up with the idea of The Parker 100 in Chris’s name and it was Noel who inaugurated it – a run that remains such an important part of Repton's identity. The challenge is to run 100 miles in the Lent term.
Last year I tried and completed the Parker 100 for the first time at Repton, I enjoyed tackling the challenge and found it stood for a good cause. This year I hope to push myself further with a challenge that will test my dedication, resilience and determination by completing all 100 miles of the Parker 100 by the first Monday of the lent term, this means I’ll have to start on the Wednesday and be finished by the 12th of Jan. I'll be doing this with my friend, Josh.
Chris' wife Sue thought it'd be best that any and all donations we are able to raise from this event should go straight to Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity as Chris spent some time being cared for at Derby City Hospital.
The rules for this event are as follows:
We must fit this around all school commitments, including lessons, sport and extra-curricular activities.
We need to use approved routes, including running on site in adverse weather.
Our aim is to complete the challenge by the end of Sunday 12th January (subject to our bodies being able to tolerate the extreme overload of miles)
Any donations would be greatly appreciated,
Many thanks,
Josh & Charlie
