Story
This challenge has been organised in loving memory of our friend and colleague, Julia Gillard who after a brave battle with illness passed away peacefully with her family by her side in late May.
Julia touched so many lives through her kindness, warmth, humour and unwavering support for others. She was someone who brought people together, and this challenge is our way of celebrating the incredible impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
I will begin my journey on 26th August at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United, because Julia was a proud supporter of the club. It feels like the perfect place to start a journey dedicated to her memory, before walking almost 70 miles over 3 days to Shardlow Primary School, a place that also held great significance in her life and where friends, family, colleagues and the wider community will come together to celebrate Julia with a family fun day and a charity football match on 28th August 26.
Over three days, every mile I walk will be a tribute to Julia and an opportunity to raise vital funds for Maggie's, helping people living with cancer and those closest to them receive the support they need.
Every step has a purpose. Every mile tells Julia's story.
We are also running a raffle where 100% of the funds raised will be donated to Maggie's, the Raffle Tickets are £1 each and can be purchased via the following link:
