Story
In November, Mike, one of Unit One's long-standing members, was diagnosed with brain abscesses, which led to emergency brain surgery. It was a frightening time, but true to form, Mike faced it head-on.
Now, in typical Mike fashion, he's come out the other side not thinking about himself, but about giving something back. Back to others who may be going through something similar, and back to the incredible staff on Ward 40 at Hull Royal Infirmary and Ward 7 at Castle Hill Hospital, whose care played such a huge part in his recovery.
Although there's still a road ahead, Mike's comeback has been nothing short of remarkable, and at Unit One, we felt the only way to show our support was to go BIG.
So here's what we're doing.
Over 24 hours, we'll be running 24 team training sessions, one every single hour, on the hour. Some of our coaches and members will be pushing to complete all 24.
It's going to be brutally brilliant in many ways.
All money raised will go directly to WISHH, supporting the incredible teams on Ward 40 at Hull Royal Infirmary and Ward 7 at Castle Hill Hospital.
If Mike's story has moved you, please consider donating.
No amount is too small, every single penny goes towards supporting the staff and facilities that gave Mike, and so many others, the care they needed most.
Share this page, spread the word, and help us make the event a special one.
Thank you. From all of us at Unit One. 🧡

Historically hospitals have always relied on public support, even after the founding of the NHS; Hull and East Yorkshire (HEY) Hospitals are no different. Our mission as a charity is to raise money to help the Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital do more to ensure every patient receives the best and most modern care possible. Your support will help provide additional specialist equipment and support services, as well as aid the transformation of spaces and facilities within the hospitals for patient and visitor comfort alike.
