UoB Swimming is raising money for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide

University of Birmingham Swim-Marathon · 17 May 2025

PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. We run HOPELINE247 0800 068 4141 a freephone confidential helpline staffed by trained professionals who give advice, support & information to anyone who is feeling suicidal, or concerned that a young person they know may be at risk

Story

On the 17th of May, the University of Birmingham Swimming Club will be hosting our first ever Swim-Marathon. We are raising money for a suicide prevention charity: PAPYRUS, partnered in conjunction with Lucy's Wings for Hope.

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, every year over 1800 young people take their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247.

Every £15 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247. Your donations really are changing lives, thank you.
