Story
Hi my name is Joseph. This page has been setup to support Safety Net during the leadup to the University of Cumbria's Multisport Marathon on the 11th of March. Hi, my name is Joseph and on 11th March, I’ll be taking part in the University of Cumbria Multisport Marathon to raise £500 for Safety Net, a charity that is close to my heart.
Safety Net supports people across North and West Cumbria who are recovering from traumatic experiences such as domestic abuse, sexual abuse, rape and exploitation.
Since volunteering with Safety Net over the past year, I have seen firsthand the difference this charity makes. I have seen people who once felt isolated begin to reconnect with others. I have seen individuals rediscover confidence, pursue goals they had given up on, and start to feel hopeful about their future again.
Recovery from trauma is not quick or easy. It takes safe spaces, specialist support and compassionate professionals. Safety Net provides specialist therapy, practical support and community activities like coffee mornings and craft hubs that help people rebuild their lives step by step.
In 2025 alone, Safety Net has supported over 1,000 people in our local area. The need is real and growing.
My goal is to raise £500 to help Safety Net continue providing life-changing support to those affected by abuse and trauma. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a genuine difference.
If you are able to, please consider contributing to and sharing this page. Together, we can help more people feel safe, supported and hopeful again.
Thank you so much for your support.
