Grass Roots Football Tour in aid of the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation · 6 June 2025

Former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers footballer Stephen Darby and close friend and British Forces Veteran Chris Rimmer have partnered together to launch the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Stephen and Chris both have Motor Neurone Disease and have created a Foundation to create awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness with the quest of finding a cure for the illness, to raise funds and offer grants to those with MND, as well as creating a network to help provide information and emotional support network for those diagnosed with the disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The Grassroots Football Tour will be staged on June 6-8, 2025 starting and ending at Ossett United. The route visits 21 other football grounds over a distance of 156 miles.

Among the Urban Regen Team there are a number of walkers who have lost relatives and friends to MND; others among us who have been inspired by the efforts of Rob Burrows, Doddie Weir, Stephen Darby, Chris Rimmer and Marcus Stewart, to raise awareness about the disease and funding to support people diagnosed with MND and indeed the ongoing research for a cure; but not least, given the event is passing through our own area, we felt it necessary to lend our support, and sponsor both the Radcliffe to Horwich RMI leg and get a team out to show solidarity with, and support for this great cause.

All the money donated in this way goes directly to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. All donations are gratefully received.
