USSAC's fundraiser for DDRC Healthcare

USSAC University of Surrey Sub-Aqua Club is raising money for DDRC Healthcare

We are aiming to swim 34km as a club which is the length of the English Channel!

The advancement of education and the relief of sickness by funding research into diving medicine and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO), and to promote the benefits both of safer diving practices and of the wider applications of HBO in general medicine. (Previously the Diving Diseases Research Centre)

Story

As a diving club, we always put safety first when we are in the water. Meticulous training, constant practice and continuous testing help us mitigate the risks and ensure everyone comes back up safely. Even so, sometimes things go wrong. A bad day, faulty kit or rough conditions can cause you to ascend quickly which increases the risk of Decompression Illness (DCI), or otherwise known as “The bends”. Knowing the risks and what to do when it happens is also part of safe diving practices. For this reason, we appreciate the amazing work done by the DDRC in keeping divers safe and healthy and want to help as much as we can. Charities like these help keep divers safe and can make all the difference in an emergency. Help us raise money to allow them to keep doing their amazing work!

We will be swimming 34km but for every £50 raised we will add another 2km to the total!
