Story
Back in March Izzy, Peaky, Jeff and Tim flew out to South Africa to meet the United Through Sport charity as part of the DGP. We were all so moved by the work that they are doing and felt the need to make a little bit more effort to raise some funds for them. We visited one of their long term partnerships, Astra, and could see all of the incredible work they had done to build this school up. They have built literacy centres, created an activity area for them to build up their motor skills and invested in programs to see the children all through out the week. This work has enabled them to pinpoint children who need more specific and personalised care and then focus on 1 to 1 sessions with them. We also got to see another school that they had only partnered with for a short time where children are playing rugby on uneven, concrete grounds. They are improvising with cones on the floor to play basketball rather than having a net of their own to use. The children have even learnt to make balls out of old plastic so they can play games together and work on their movement and team building skills. We want to help give those deprived schools the same benefits as their counterparts.
After a short chat in the airport about the different levels of spice tolerance that we have, and considering that South Africa is pretty well known for its contribution to the world of Peri-Peri, we felt a Hot Sauce Challenge would be a great way to get some more money over to those children that need it most. In order to take part you have to do the following.
£10 per person to nominate someone else to take on the heat! Their challenge is to go as far up the spice levels as they can manage. Bring some of that competitive nature out and try to beat people on your team! Make sure to add a note with the persons name so we can keep track of who has been nominated so far.
£5 if you feel that this is no challenge for you and you want to give it a go, show off to your weaker colleagues and make it all the way to the end of the hot sauce line!
If you feel on the night that you want to get more nominations in, no worries! We will have a card machine to hand to take any more donations.
The event will be taking place on the 16th August from 5pm in The Lock. Hope to see you all there!
