Be the Key: Unlock $155,000 in Scholarships
As 2025 comes to a close, many of us are reflecting on the past year and setting intentions for the year ahead. Whether you are looking for a way to end your year with meaningful giving or seeking to start the new one with a resolution that makes a tangible difference, the Syrian National Committee invites you to be part of a life-changing journey.
We are asking you to support the journey of two Syrian students and help them access two scholarships valued at USD $155,000+ combined to attend UWC East Africa in Tanzania, and UWC Maastricht in the Netherlands.
These scholarships are currently locked behind a financial wall. While tuition and housing are covered, the scholarships do not cover the essential costs required to travel to and attend their two-year IB program. Expenses that Syrian families cannot afford. This includes flights to and from the school, visa fees, student permit, pocket money, laptop fees, vaccinations and medical insurance, and extracurricular projects and trips, among more.
They need your help to pay for these additional required expenses.
Our Goal
We are fundraising $9,000 to remove these walls. By donating, you are not just paying for a flight or a visa; you are the key to unlocking the full potential of these scholars.
Your contribution directly supports two specific groups:
- The New Journey (Class of 2026): You will fund the additional costs for two new scholars. This ensures they can accept their scholarships by covering flights, visa fees, student permits, medical insurance, and pocket money.
- The Continued Success (Zia & Rida): Thanks to your support, we were able to send Zia and Rida to their schools in August 2025. A portion of this fund ensures we can continue to support them as they complete their 2-year program at their school.
We desperately need people who stand up for peace and understanding and there is no better place than UWC to spread these ideas. I am a father of a second year in UWC Mostar and I am experiencing continuously how life-changing the two years at UWC can be - not only for my daughter but for the whole family. We all can contribute a little bit to change the world for good in uniting young people to work together for peace." - Donor, UWC Second Year Parent.
Your Direct Impact
100% of your donation goes directly to supporting these students to pay for the additional required expenses during their two-year IB program.
Here is how your contribution translates into impact:
- $50 covers one month of pocket money allowance
- $200 pays for visa fees and study permit
- $500 covers the cost of a laptop
- $600 contributes significantly to a flight from Syria to the school
- $800 covers a student's health insurance and vaccinations
- $1,500 covers round trip from Syria to UWC East Africa, Tanzania
A Shared Promise for 2026
Here is the promise we offer you: You get to end your year with a meaningful act of kindness and start your new one with a powerful commitment to hope. In return, our students gain access to quality education.
