Story
In memory of Val
Our much loved wife, mum and granny, Val, passed away peacefully at home on 19th September 2026, after a 15 month battle with glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive form of brain tumour.
In her memory, we are raising money for Headcase Cancer Trust, a small charity that funds research into finding a cure for GBM.
GBM is the most common and most deadly type of brain tumour. It kills around 5,000 people in the UK every year, more than all the other types of brain tumour combined. There is currently no cure, and the average life expectancy from diagnosis is just 14 months. Mum faced her illness with great courage, and we are so grateful for every month we had with her.
Headcase is run entirely by volunteers, so over 98% of every donation goes directly to research, carried out with scientists and universities across the UK and beyond.
Mum touched the lives of so many people, and we would like her legacy to help other families in the future. Thank you for giving in her memory; every donation, however small, makes a difference.
