RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

I’m incredibly proud to be supporting my friend and Orkney Uncovered brand ambassador Lyndsay Retson as she leads the Valkyrie Trig Quest conquering all 65 trig points across the beautiful (and often wild) hills and coasts of Orkney.

Lyndsay is out there bagging every single trig pillar, battling the famous Orkney winds and weather in true Valkyrie spirit. I’m right there helping her every step of the way — whether it’s joining her on the tougher routes, providing backup, or cheering her on from the next summit.

This challenge means even more because Lyndsay’s husband, Fraser Retson, is the Coxswain of the Kirkwall Lifeboat. Fraser and his volunteer crew are out on the water day and night, answering the call in some of the most challenging seas around the UK to save lives.

I’ve always been a strong supporter of the RNLI and Royal Navy charities, including the Felix Fund, which provides vital welfare and financial support to our bomb disposal heroes and their families.

Every pound we raise will go directly to the RNLI to help keep those lifeboats launching and those incredible volunteer crews doing what they do best — saving lives at sea.

If you love Orkney, admire the RNLI, or just want to back two brilliant local people taking on an epic challenge, please donate and share. Every contribution truly helps keep our waters safe.

Thank you — from the hills of Orkney to the waves of Scapa Flow! 🏔️🚤
