Story
English Channel Relay Crossing
July 2025
Five friends and I are taking on this exciting challenge in July 2025.
We will each swim in rotation for an hour; English Channel crossings can generally take anything between 11 and 18 hours.
No wetsuits are allowed, rules state we can only wear;
Fabric swim costume, swim hat and goggles
Plus some anti-chafe cream!
Some of the challenges the team will face include; swimming through one of the busiest shipping routes in the world, strong currents, and, of course, the dreaded stinging jellyfish.
Preparation has begun already;
Open water swims for cold water acclimatisation
Pool swim sessions to improve stroke and increase our stamina

Charity - Swim Tayka
This is the reason we chose to fundraise and Swim with SwimTayka https://swimtayka.org/
Drowning is a silent epidemic that claims an estimated 360,000 lives every year, many of them children.
Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide. These are wasted lives and preventable deaths. SwimTayka's mission is to give disadvantaged communities around the world access to swimming teachers who can not only provide the life skills of swimming but create a legacy for today's children, who will grow up to teach the next generation.
Honesty and Transparency
Should you choose to donate to this worthy cause, please accept sincere thanks from me, my team and all at SwimTayka.
So you know exactly where your money is going and what the outcome of the challenge could be please note the facts below;
1. The cost of the cross-channel swim is £800. This pays for the boat, a qualified pilot and also several training events to help support us in succeeding in our challenge. I aim to cover much of this £800 myself, so any money you donate goes to those who benefit from this fantastic charity.
2. The event could get cancelled or postponed due to bad and unsafe weather conditions. Your donation will still be used by the charity
3. I may get injured in the run-up to the event and not be able to participate. Your donation will still be very welcome and will be used by the charity.
