Great Tweed Swim · 8 September 2024 ·

We're taking on the 9.5km swim from the Union Bridge to Berwick RNLI station to Raise funds for the Borders Water Rescue Team enabling them to purchase essential kit. Do your best to raise for a great cause.

Story

I have cycled and walked endurance events in my (distant) past but this marathon-equivalent swim is the only time I’ve decided to repeat an endurance event.

While at times I’ll be swimming at Olympic-pace (thanks currents and tides), I think everyone knows that my normal swim pace is more like a slow jog. I’ve also done no training thanks to a rotator cuff injury so finishing feels a decent goal.

I’ll be paying the minimum donation fee in lieu of an entrance fee, but if anyone wants to contribute to the fundraiser I’d be most grateful

The Borders Water Rescue Team's purpose is to provide a water-related search, rescue and recovery service to benefit the general public and save lives.
