Story
I'm raising money for CICRA as they are an invaluable source of support, information and research for children and families going through the trauma of diagnosis, treatment and living with the life-long illness, Crohn's.
My son, Edison, was diagnosed at age 11 and has been on a long journey over the past two years and the resources provided by CICRA have been extremely helpful. Thankfully, Edison is stable on his medications now and whilst he is still fatigued, he is back at school and getting back to relative normality. One day, hopefully, there will be a cure. For now, we're just thankful for support navigating this terrible condition.
I will be testing myself to the limit, once again, to try to break 4,000km in one week on Zwift.
Last time, I achieved 3,334km. Whilst I failed to make the distance, the coming together of the community was far from a failure....in fact, it was heart warming. The number of people who jumped on Zwift to support and send messages was truly amazing. Pop onto veathlete.com to read some of the past articles.
Please give what you can. If you're unable to give a donation, a message of support or joining me in game on Zwift are just as valuable. This will be as much a mental test as a physical one, so any words of encouragement are very well received.
On a final note, every solo effort needs a team. This is no exception. My wife Johanna, and children Ashton and Edison, will be working hard in the background as pit crew. Friends from Zwift will be joining in, including domestiques from various teams, to lend a wheel and provide support. To those helping, thank you, I couldn't do this without you.
To Edison. The courage you demonstrate every day gives me the courage to dare to fail. You're amazing ❣️
