I am taking on this amazing challenge for the National Autistic Society, the UK's largest autism charity supporting the 700,000 people and their families across the country.

At 20 months old my daughter Vida had been hitting all her expected milestones and was developing like any other child her age. More or less overnight that all changed and Vida's development rapidly regressed. Vida stopped responding to her name, no longer made eye contact and all forms of her communication stopped. For a long time I grieved the child I thought she would be and believed that somehow I had failed as her mum.

Now at 4 years old Vida is smashing through life in her own unique way. As a family life feels a little bit easier and I can honestly say we would not change her for the world.

We would not have been reached this point without our amazing friends, family, local SEND community and being able to access autistic services and charities. Due to a huge backlog so many families, including my own, are waiting far too long for access to support from local services. Charities like the National Autistic Society are vital for Autistic people and their families.

After completing couch to 5k in January 2024 running has become a lifeline for me, it changed my life and i want to use it to help change lives for others.
