London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·

Our charity began its roots with providing urgent relief to the Ebenezer School in Gutu, Masvingo, Zimbabwe, which was destroyed by a violent storm in 2019. The damage was extensive and devastating: Classrooms and homes had their roofs blown off, irreparable water damage to the children’s books, furniture and personal belongings of the teachers. Through generous donations and other fundraising initiatives we have managed to build a new classroom block and restored teachers`accomodation. These dwellings are now fully functional. The Charity`s vision is not to stop at just restoring the buildings and resources, but to continually invest in the school to rebuild it as a pillar of a thriving community. We want to invest in futures for years to come. Our next goal is to raise at least £20.000 to go towards building an ICT suite and furnish it with basic IT facilities and solar power. IT is on the school curriculum, but there are currently no facilities at this school that the children can use. We hope that this site will be a beacon for other local schools who will also benefit from these facilities. All young people in the Rasa area deserve to live a better life. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for communities in the Rasa area. We strive to create a better world for those less fortunate, and we thank all of you for helping us to achieve that.

Story

Dear Friends,

My name is Veronika Chagonda-Reid.

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to you today with a grateful heart and an important cause to share. As many of you know, I have committed myself and nine others to participate in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024, a challenging marathon event that will take place on April 7th, 2024.

I am running this marathon in support of my charity Rasa Schools Foundation, a charity that is very close to my heart, as Ebenaezer school is my former primary school in Rasa Village in rural Zimbabwe. Rasa Schools Foundation is dedicated to providing quality education and empowering underprivileged children with the tools they need to build a brighter future.

I founded Rasa foundation in 2019, after part of the school was destroyed by the same weather system as Hurricane Idai. Since its creation with your generocity we have build a new school block and furnished it. Education is a fundamental right that every child deserves, regardless of their background or circumstances. Unfortunately, not all children have access to the resources they need to thrive academically. Though ICT is part of the primary school syllabus, there are no computers at the school. We are currently fundraising to build a solar powered ICT block, to help these children`s education to meet the current learning standards.

But they can't do it alone. They rely on generous donations from individuals like you who believe in their mission and want to make a difference. That's why I am asking for your support today.

My goal is to raise £1,000 for the Rasa Schools Foundation. Every pound donated will go directly towards providing building materials and labour to towards building a new solar powered ICT block. scholarships, and other essential resources for these deserving children.

Your contribution can truly change lives. Together, we can give these children hope and empower them with the gift of education.

Please consider making a donation today through my JustGiving page. Donating is simple, fast, and secure - your details are safe with JustGiving. By donating, you'll be joining me on this journey and making a lasting impact on the lives of these incredible children.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and generosity. Together, let's make dreams come true!

With gratitude,

Vee xx
